Roof-Top film Fest (RTFF) is a film festival born out of the desire to provide a platform for people to enjoy movies and share their criticism in an open environment. An intense atmosphere will be created for the screening of the films and the discussions that follow. The Roof-Top Film Fest will focus on independent films, short films, cult movies and films that changed the way we looked at cinema.

RTFF is an open-to-all many-times-a-year, anytime-in-a-year event for cinephiles to camp out for a couple days.

The bad news is that we are gonna postpone this roof top film festival :(. The good news however is that, a big 5 day film festival is on the cards. Hang in there tight... and keep watching this space. Alternatively, please update your email id under the participants tag, to be informed about this film festival :D - Sagaro

Update: Here's the info. The seating is free but on first come first served basis. 14 films, 2 premieres... maybe 3!

There are a few seats available on a reservation basis. Mail iiffchennai@gmail.com to confirm your seats.

Schedule

Films I would like to see

  • A Man Escaped (Sounds like a really interesting film but since it isn't heist or neo-noir, let's put this hold till a session on Escape films)
  • The Ladykillers (1955) - The film that the Coen brothers remade with Tom Hanks. Genre:Heist
  • The Killing (1956) - This is the Stanley Kubrick film that inspired Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs. Genre: Heist
  • Ocean's Eleven (1960) - The film that inspired Soderberg to start the Ocean's franchise. Genre: Heist
  • Dog Day Afternoon (1975) - The film that inspired many heist films about hold-ups including the Inside Man. Genre: Heist
  • True Romance (1993) - Tarantino's most autobiographical film directed by Tony Scott. Genre: Neo-noir.
  • The Usual Suspects (1995) - After watching all the Hindi versions ripped off from this, you gotto see the original. Genre: Neo-noir.
  • Mad City (1997) - A worthy tribute to Dog Day Afternoon. Genre: Heist
  • Ek Chalis Ki Last Local (2007) - Finally, an authentic desi Tarantino-meets-Coen Brothers movie. Genre: Neo-noir
