The idea is pretty interesting. But, I'm very disappointed to see the list of movies to be screen or wanted to be screen. Should this event not be taken as an opportunity to break away for contemporary and popular cinema and enjoy works of filmmakers who are lesser known but intriguing and interesting.

Sounds Great. Can we add on a few Wong Kar Wai? IT's difficult to get these films and it'll be great to watch them with other people.

A few suggestions from Madras after having attended the first two editions...
1. Avoid black n white movies or play them first. It sounds really cool but when you have 20 plus people on the roof, in the middle of the night, there are gonna be many who will doze off... Ask Sagaro (Ganesh), he ll tell you more about that.
2. Screen films that you wont get/find at the DVD library. Else, there is no reason for people to show up. Have a theme and stick to it. A programming team could meet to finalise and acquire the films needed ahead of the event. Or there will be a lot of arguments on the night of the event. Since it's not a one off event, everybody will get a chance to be in the programming team. Take turns, this will avoid conflict and ensure democracy. Everyone organising will lead to anarchy. The theme in Madras the first time around was Independent films/Films by debutant directors. Since we screened one film from each decade, we had adequate variety and none of the films were similar to the other despite the theme.
3. Focus on local talent. This will help you get media support. Or it will just end up to be a community movie marathon and not necessarily a film festival. Im sure Bangalore must have its share of indie filmmakers. I heard of one called 20 plus. Not seen it myself though so can't vouch for quality. But do find out. In the Chennai edition, I got to screen my feature film and the director's cut, something I've never shown people... do something like that and get the media to write about it!

Some thoughts on selection of film:
-Not more than 2 English films, preferably only 1 or even 0
-Not more than 1 film from 90's and 2000's
-Films from middle east, far east, South America and particularly Africa are not very widely available, if possible screen something from here.

I agree with Sudhish, it is a film festival and not film marathon. We should encourage our local film makers/talents along with the other movies that we are screening. For instance if Pawan agrees, lets screen one of his short films and hear him speak about it.

It will be very difficult to please everyone, so the planning team can decide a theme and ask everyone to suggest movies according to the theme....planning team can finally decide which movies will be screened and publish the list beforehand to avoid chaos during the event
